The piece of art that I'd like to talk about is a painting called 'Starry Night' by the Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh. I first encountered this painting when I was around fifteen years old, during a school trip to the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Although I had seen reproductions of it countless times in books and online, seeing the actual, massive canvas in person was an entirely different experience. 'Starry Night' depicts the view from the window of Van Gogh's asylum room at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, just before sunrise, with the addition of an idealized village.
