One perspective supporting the claim is that technological advancements and changing social norms have created a generational divide. Young people are immersed in a digital world, often communicating differently and valuing instant gratification, which can appear dismissive to those who adhere to more traditional forms of interaction. Furthermore, societal structures have changed; the unquestioning authority once ascribed to elders is now often challenged by a more individualistic outlook and a greater emphasis on critical thinking among youth.
