Do you think current food production methods are sustainable? What changes need to be made?
Current food production methods are largely unsustainable in the long term. Industrial agriculture depletes soil nutrients, contributes to deforestation, and generates significant greenhouse gas emissions. The excessive use of pesticides and fertilizers also harms biodiversity and contaminates water sources. I believe several fundamental changes are needed. First, we should shift towards more sustainable farming practices such as crop rotation, organic farming, and agroforestry. Second, reducing food waste throughout the supply chain could significantly decrease the demand for overproduction. Third, developing plant-based protein alternatives could help reduce the environmental footprint of livestock farming.
