Governments tend to prioritize investments that promise tangible, measurable returns, and scientific research frequently fits this bill. In contrast, the benefits of the arts, though profound, are often more abstract and harder to quantify. They enrich cultural life, foster critical thinking, promote empathy, and provide essential avenues for self-expression and understanding of the human condition.
