I'd like to talk about a time I felt incredibly nervous, which was during my university viva voce examination. This was about four years ago, towards the end of my undergraduate degree. The viva took place in a rather formal setting, in a small, sterile office within the faculty building. It was a room I'd only ever passed by, never actually been inside, and it felt quite intimidating. I was with my external examiner, who was a professor from another university, and my internal examiner, who was one of my own lecturers. My supervisor was also present, but they were not allowed to speak during the examination, which I think made it even more nerve-wracking as I was on my own in terms of articulating my thoughts.
